Day five was the adventure day 🙂 My original thought was I was not going to go in any water because I get pretty scared when it is over my head. But I soon came to realize I would regret it if I did not do something water related. I decided I could handle snorkeling, you know near the shore floating on top of the water I could do that. I had gotten more comfortable in water since I have been taking wingnut to his swimming class. So I went to one of the guided tour places in the touristy part of town. I told them that I had never been before and they assured me that it would be fine. The captain would give me a little lesson and I could have a noodle to help with floating. Oh and did I mention it was a guided tour too two locations off a boat. Oh and my friend was still not feeling well so I was going alone. If you knew me you would know that this was something I normally would never have done before. Alone + deep water = scared stiff. So I meet at the marina in the morning like I am supposed to. My charter boat and captain Ron, yep that was his name, were late so I waited in the car till he got there. Then I realized I was the only one here and I was not going to get on a boat with a strange man alone. So I waited even more and saw that everyone that worked in the marina was calling to this man say hi and talking. That made me feel a little more comfortable. I then got out of the car, talked to the captain and signed my life away. There ended up being three other people that came but they were all divers, I was the only snorkeler. So I tell the captain I have never snorkeled before and all he tells me is the snorkel mask adjusts and how to put it on. He did not tell me anything else. So we get to the drop off point and I have no idea what I am doing. I beg for a noodle and get in the water. I am so petrified that I can’t let go of the ladder and I am hyperventilating. Then I tell myself get a grip you can do this. I ended up letting go and just floating and trying to figure out how to use the snorkel mask. The first drop off ended up very uneventful because of being so scared and just trying to get the hang of it. But when we went to the second drop off it was amazing. I was finally comfortable and got to enjoy the fish. I got to say this was one of the most courageous things I have done and I am extremely proud of myself for doing it. Oh and the pictures I took with the underwater camera did not turn out.
When we got back it was early afternoon and I was so beat. I picked my friend up and we had lunch at a cool little restaurant. That ended up being all for that day.
The next day we had breakfast at a restaurant that serves fish with your pancakes! I loved it. Oh and coconut syrup to die for.
After breakfast we went to the airport and flew home.
